A procrastinator avoids doing tasks or activities which need to be done – sometimes leaving them for the last minute or never getting around actually doing them.
So, are you a procrastinator? You are probably trying to convince yourself otherwise. We have all had a moment in our lives whereby we have delayed a task or an activity due to laziness, fear or even depression. These are all causes of procrastination.
We all battle with this one way or the other; however in the workplace this becomes a serious problem as day in and out we chase deadlines. Procrastinating may have a huge impact in the quality of work you produce. So, here are a few punchy tips to beat procrastination. Get your boxing gloves ready…
Punch #1
Admit that you have a procrastination problem, don’t worry it is normal.
Punch # 2
Set yourself a time table with measurable goals of the things you want to achieve.
Punch #3
Get the hardest tasks out of the way, at the same time turning a negative situation in to a positive one. Prioritise and develop a “can do” attitude.
Punch #4
Keep a record of the things that you have done or a little book with your tasks within to cross reference.
Punch #5
Use your time wisely – set yourself a time frame for each activity.
Punch #6
Take regular breaks – do not push yourself too hard, it’s necessary to re-energise.
